Patna

 

Patna is the capital of the state Bihar. Located at the confluence of four rivers the Ganga, Sone, Gandakand and Poonpun,

In the ancient times was known as Pataliputra, Kusum Pur, Pushpa Pur, and Patali Gram. Ajatshatru the Magadha king built a small fort in Pataligram on the bank of the Ganga in 6th century BC.

Patna is known to history as the capital of the great Indian Monarchs of the Nand, Maurya, Sung and Gupt dynasties. And is one of the world's oldest capital cities with unbroken history of many centuries as imperial metropolis.

This city has been home to two great religions, Buddhism and Jainism, and myriad dynasties from ancient to modern times.

The best season to visit Patna is from October to March.
